  1. The Islamic Republic: Yes or No

    Survey

    More than 204 thousand Iranians have responded to this survey, 180 thousand of whom stated to be inside Iran. The findings of this report reflect the views of literate people over 19 years old in Iran (equivalent to 85% of eligible voters); the results can be attributed to this population with a 95% confidence level. The survey is an attempt to systematically measure and record the legitimacy of the Islamic Republic as a form of government, according to Iranians and in an environment where these questions cannot be publicly asked.

  2. The 2020 Parliamentary Elections in Iran

    Survey
    This survey was conducted between January 30th and February 5th, with more than 43,000 respondents, 90% of which are residing in Iran. The following figures are derived after refining the sample and weighting the sample of Iranian residents, based on sex, age, educational levels, geographical distribution, and electoral behavior in the 2017 presidential election. The findings reflect the opinions of literate people over the age of 19 in Iran (equal to 85% of the eligible voters) and can be generalized to this population with a 95% confidence level and an error margin of 5%.

  3. The Coronavirus in Iran

    Survey
    This poll was conducted from March 15th to March 20th. The refined sample that is used in this report is comprised of 14,936 people living in Iran. The findings of this report reflect the views of literate people over the age of 19 in Iran (equal to 85% of all Iranian adult citizens) and are representative of this population with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 5%. The survey has attempted to systematically measure and record Iranian views and concerns about the state of the coronavirus crisis in Iran.
    According to respondents’ self-reports, there are approximately 95,000 coronavirus cases in households across the country, whose diseases have been confirmed by medical tests. According to the results of this survey, the total coronavirus cases in Iran is estimated to be between 457,000 and 657,000 by March 20th (the aggregation of those who have undergone medical tests and those who reported having symptoms).
    According to respondents’ self-report about the death household members, it is estimated that between 10,000 and 30,000 people in Iran have died so far from the coronavirus as of March 20th.

  4. Iranians’ Attitudes Toward Religion

    Survey
    The survey titled “Iranians’ attitudes toward religion”was conducted from June 6 to 21, 2020. Over 50 thousand respondents were surveyed, around 90% of whom lived in Iran.
    This study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19, who comprise 85% of Iran’s adult population. The results can be generalized to the target population with a 95% credibility level and credibility intervals of 5%. The survey aimed to measure and document the attitudes of Iranians toward religion and related political concepts, none of which can be openly discussed in Iran due to the current restrictions.

  5. Iranians’ Attitudes Toward the Death Penalty

    Survey
    The survey was conducted from September 3 to 11, 2020. Over 24 thousand respondents were surveyed, around 86% of whom lived in Iran.
    This study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19, who comprise 85% of Iran’s adult population. The results can be generalized to the target population with a 95% credibility level and credibility intervals of 5%. The survey aimed to measure and document the attitudes of Iranians toward the death penalty and related issues, none of which can be openly discussed in Iran due to the current restrictions.
    The results show that around 44% of the population resolutely oppose the death penalty, and 26% agree with the death penalty in unique cases only.

  6. Iranians’ Attitudes Toward Media

    Survey
    The survey titled “Iranians’ attitudes toward media” was conducted from February 17 to 26, 2021. Over 27 thousand respondents were surveyed, around 90% of whom lived in Iran.
    This study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19, who comprise 85% of Iran’s adult population. The results can be generalized to the target population with a 95% credibility level and credibility intervals of 5%. The survey aimed to measure and document the attitudes of Iranians toward media (risānah’hā), including their political orientations and electoral behavior, none of which can be openly discussed in Iran due to the current restrictions.

  7. Iranians Attitudes Toward Elections

    Survey
    The survey titled “Election Survey” was conducted from May 27 to June 3, 2021. Around 80 thousand respondents participated in the study. The final sample used in this report consisted of 68,271 Iranians living inside Iran. This study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19, who comprise 85% of the eligible voters in Iran. The results can be generalized to the target population with a 95% credibility.
    The results show that around 75% of the population will not vote in the upcoming presidential election, which is held on June 18, 2021, while 18% say they will certainly vote, and 6% haven’t decided on their participation. Moreover, the willingness to vote in the City and Village Council elections resembles that of the presidential election.

  8. Iran’s 2021 Elections

    Survey
    The survey titled “Final 2021 Elections Survey” was conducted from 15 to 17 June, 2021. Around 47 thousand respondents participated in the study. The final sample used in this report consisted of 39,151 Iranians living inside Iran. This study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19, who comprise 85% of the eligible voters in Iran. The results can be generalized to the target population with a 95% credibility level and credibility intervals of 5%.
    The results show that around 72% of the population will not vote in the upcoming presidential election, which is held on June 18, 2021, while 22% say they will certainly vote, and 6% haven’t decided on their participation. Moreover, the willingness to vote in the City and Village Council elections resembles that of the presidential election.

  9. Iranians’Attitudes toward International Relations

    Survey
    The survey titled “Iranians’ Attitudes toward International Relations” was conducted September 21-30, 2021. Around 23 thousandrespondents participated in the study. The final sample used in this report consisted of 20,097 Iranians living inside Iran. This study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19 or 85% of Iran’s adult population.

  10. Iranians’ Attitudes toward Political Systems

    Survey
    The survey titled “Iranians’ Attitudes toward Political Systems” was carried out between February 17-27, 2022. Over 20 thousand respondents participated in this study. The final sample used in this report consisted of 16,850 Iranians living inside Iran. The study’s findings reflect the views of literate Iranian residents aged above 19, who comprise 85% of the Iranian adult population. The results can be generalized to the target population with a 95% credibility level and credibility intervals of 5%. The results show that 88% of the population consider “having a democratic political system” to be “fairly good” or “very good”. On the other hand, while 67% of the population consider “having a system governed by religious law” to be “fairly bad” or “very bad”, around 28% evaluate such a system as “good”. Moreover, 76% of the population are against “having the army rule”.

  11. Iranians’ Attitudes Toward the 2022 Nationwide Protests

    Survey
    The survey “Iranians’ Attitudes Toward the 2022 Nationwide Protests” was conducted between December 21–31, 2022. Around 200,000 respondents participated in and completed this survey. Over 157,000 respondents were inside Iran, and over 42,000 respondents were outside the country. The survey results based on respondents inside the country represent the target population of literate Iranian adults above 19 years old (equal to 90% of the total adult population), with respective credibility levels and credibility intervals of 95% and 5%. This report’s results cannot be said to be representative of all Iranians in the diaspora; however, given the large sample size, the balanced distribution of the sample, and the participation of respondents from 130 countries, the report’s results can be seen to reflect the views of a significant part of Iranians outside the country. In response to the question “Islamic Republic: Yes or No?” 81% of respondents inside the country responded “No” to the Islamic Republic, 15% responded “Yes,” and 4% were not sure. Of the Iranian respondents abroad, 99% responded “No,” opting against the Islamic Republic. Asked about the nationwide protests between September and December 2022, 80% of those inside the country said they support the protests; 67% believed the protests will succeed, while 14% thought they will not succeed.
